Our beloved Mercedes Alcira Moore went home to heaven on October 29, 2021, at the age of 52. Mercedes was born to Ana and Francisco Perez on September 3, 1969 at Hospital Nacional Rosales, San Salvador, El Salvador.
Known as Alcira, she was raised in Ciudad Credisa of San Salvador where she graduated from high school. During her youth she enjoyed playing many sports and dancing every time la lambada music played. As the oldest child of eight siblings, Alcira was a tough, no-nonsense protector of her brothers and sisters, she was a natural leader at a young age. She studied at university before bravely immigrating to the United States at the age of 22.
Mercedes worked at various retail locations over the years, eventually promoting into management. After working in sales, she transitioned into her career as an insurance professional. She was a licensed property, casualty, life, and health agent in the state of Virginia. Mercedes thrived in her insurance role at the Calvin McGowan – State Farm Insurance Agency.
Mercedes family and friends were touched by her bubbly personality, sense of style, artistic ability, generosity, kindness, and her overwhelming love for and commitment to her family. It was no secret that Mercedes was a hard worker. At times she held two jobs to ensure every need was met for her children. Her most cherished moments were the times she spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved shopping for her children and grandchildren just to see their look of excitement and joy when gifts were opened. Mercedes would often attend her grandchildren’s sports games and dance recitals as a demonstration of her love and support. Summer was her favorite season, she loved going to the beach with friends and family.
Mercedes was her true self at family gatherings. She loved hosting or attending family birthdays, parties, special events, celebrations, and especially the holidays. Here she would be found caring for her loved ones, laughing, singing, and dancing to her favorite music. Mercedes loved all kinds of music across many genres but had a special affinity for Banda MS, Cumbia, and Spanish Pop. She frequently attended concerts with her family and friends where she would dance and sing late into the night. Mercedes brought joy to every room she entered and was filled with the love of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Mercedes is preceded in death by husband, Darin Moore and her mother, Ana Perez.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory, father Fransico Perez, sisters Ana Chicas (Willo), Jenny Chicas (Carlos), Karina Quintana (Nelson), Jacqeline De Paz, and brothers, Fransico Perez Jr. (Karla), Joaquin Eduardo (Abigail), and Luis Ernesto; children Sendy Santiago (Edgar Sr.), Jazzmyn Brown, Stephanie Lake (John II), Donte, and Denzel; grandchildren Rasean, Edgar Jr., Brooke, Edrian, John III, James, and Juliet; mother-in-law Catherine Moore; sisters-and brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, family, and many more friends whom dearly loved her.
