Mary Madeleine “Peggy” O’Neill Creel died March 29, 2014 in Alexandria VA. She was 92.She was born October 12, 1921 in Baltimore, MD to Mary Madeleine Robinson O’Neill and Senator Howard S. O’Neill of Bel Air, MD. She graduated from Bel Air HS in 1938 and magna cum laude from St. Joseph’ s College in Emmitsburg, MD in 1942 . She taught at Old Post Road HS for two years and one year at Brentwood Academy in Bronxville, NY. She married Captain Buckner M. Creel III on December 27, 1947 at St. Margaret’s Church in Bel Air, MD. In 1974, she obtained an MLS at Catholic University and was a librarian for 13 years at Georgetown Visitation HS and four years at Virginia Theological Seminary. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Col. Buckner M. Creel III; five children: Buckner M. Creel IV, Madeleine Kincaid, Patricia Baltzley, Mary Brown, and Howard S. Creel; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister. She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA followed by a light lunch at the same location. Mrs. Creel will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
