Irene worked as a legal secretary at the law firm of Morgan Lewis for more than 43 years! Early there, she worked with attorneys representing Major League Baseball. Irene pulled up stakes and headed for the Big Apple spending six months supporting contract negotiations. Most of her tenure she spent in the Firm’s Immigration Group and there she developed a family within her family. When Irene passed, the attorneys’ outpouring of love for Irene brought us to tears.
No matter what the challenges of DC, Irene was a real warrior. She navigated the subway except when out of service, the sidewalks when offices were fenced for Inaugurations, and the “Snowmageddon” blizzard of 2010. Irene could rap for hours about her dislike of snow. One snowflake was a crisis. You barely need a car in the city and she would say the only time she drove was to the dealership for service!
Irene’s utter dedication was reserved for Jon Bon Jovi and David Letterman and everyone knew it. Her attorneys surprised her with front row seats to a Jon Bon Jovi concert. With her razor-sharp wit, she swore up and down every year the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame overlooked JBJ. Dave is untouchable. She flew to New York to be in the audience and could probably recite every Top 10 list by memory.
You couldn’t ask for a more caring sister. Irene was selfless and warm and loving. Irene worried more about our problems than we would. We’re not a large family and every weekend without fail she would call her brothers to share the week. What will we do without Irene on the weekends to come?
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Rosenberg of Greensboro, NC and her Mother Frances Rosenberg of Greensboro, NC. She is survived by her brothers Jim Rosenberg of Greensboro, NC and Bruce Rosenberg of Charlotte, NC. Her six nephews and nieces are David Rosenberg of Indianapolis, IN, Jacob Rosenberg of Brooklyn, NY, Jessica Levy of Charlotte, NC, Jonathan Rosenberg of Charlotte, NC, Matthew Rosenberg of Nashville, TN and Michael Rosenberg of Wynnewood, PA. She was Great Aunt to four happy little children.
The family will be gathering in North Carolina for a remembrance meal.
