Born in Washington D.C in 1940, Helen attended Chamberlain Vocational High School. For almost 25 years, she worked as a Resident Manager for an apartment complex in Arlington, where she also made her home. She was beloved by many of the residents for her friendly demeanor.
Helen loved her family, socializing with people, good food, playing Bingo, Yahtzee and other games, and her Coca-Cola. She was a devoted fan of the Washington Nationals and Redskins and would watch nearly every game of both teams. She had a smile that could truly light up a room. People were drawn to her warm personality and giving heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother Martha Jean Bambury, and father, Frank Dominic Brizzi, stepfather John E. Bambury, daughter Denise J. Bragg, sister Shirley J. Boyd and brother Frank D. Brizzi Jr. She is survived by her siblings, Katherine Powell (MD), Dorothy Engemann (FL), Joseph Paul Brizzi (FL), Helen Weakley (FL) and John Bambury (MA); her children, Darlene M. Lawson (Arlington), Joyce Purkapile (NV), Thomas Potter, Jr. (Arlington), her grandchildren Heather Bambury Dadant (Reston), Lorne Poore (Bealeton), Tyler and Tyson Potter (Arlington), Robert Allen (North Carolina), Jason Allen (Nevada) and Brian Allen (Nevada). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Justin and Jack Domanski (Hamilton, VA), Markie Allen (Minnesota), Robyn Allen (North Carolina), Aaliyah Allen (Nevada), soon-to-be born Cameron Poore (Bealeton), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Helen Potter will be missed by so many. But we should all be comforted that she is now with her daughter, her parents, and brother and sister, all of whom she loved very much. Until we are all together again in Glory, let us remember her laugh, her smiling face and the love she showed each of us. Remember her with love and, in her own words, GO NATS!
