On October 26, 2016, Elizabeth Anne Kline Grinnell of Arlington, VA died peacefully at her home in Virginia. Beloved wife of the late John R. Grinnell; devoted mother of Helen Grinnell Howells and John Grinnell; loving grandmother of Jacquelyn and John Michael Howells; Amanda, Garrett and Grant Grinnell; and great-grandmother of Keegan, Tatum, and Khloe’. Betty was born December 29, 1927 in Washington, D.C.; daughter of the late Helen and Robert E. Kline Jr. of Chevy Chase, MD. Betty graduated from George Washington University where she met her husband, John, and married on August 15, 1949. Betty was an active member of the Little Falls Presbyterian Church, Rock Spring Garden Club, Neighbors Club, National Society of Arts & Letters, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Corinthian Yacht Club, and the D.A.R. Betty was a woman of strong faith, a homemaker, and an avid painter and gardener. She loved boating and spending time at the beach and mountains with her family. A memorial service will be held at Little Falls Presbyterian Church 6025 Little Falls Rd. Arlington, VA on October 29, 2016 at 2pm. Private family burial at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to “NVADACA” PO Box 305 Burke, VA 22009 in the name of the “Grinnell Memorial Scholarship.”
