Elena Cortina

Elena Maria Lavin de Cortina, born in Havana, Cuba on September 27, 1933, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022 in Alexandria, VA, surrounded by family and loved ones. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life and husband of 57 years, Anibal Cortina, and her son Jose Antonio. She is survived by her sister Alicia Larsen, her children, Anibal Jose (Sally Cortina), Maria Elena (Richard Hughes), Jorge Alberto (Janie Cortina), Ana María (Tim McIntosh), Ignacio Augustin (Debbie Cortina), her 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous other beloved relatives. Elena enjoyed 88 years of life, spanning from Cuba, to Florida, to Haiti, to Virginia. A visitation will be held on April 7, 2022, from 4pm-7pm, at Murphy’s Funeral Home (4150 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA). The funeral service will be held on April 8, 2022, at 10:00am at St. Anthony of Padua (3305 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, VA) and will be followed by a burial at Columbia Gardens in Arlington.
