Donna L Burnett passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 at the age of 88. Donna was born in Morrisburg, Ontario Canada on December 24, 1930. She grew up in Ontario, graduated high school at age 16 and was the gold medalist of her school year. She received her Nursing diploma from Kingston General Hospital in Kingston, Ontario. There she met the love of her life, Alexander M. Burnett, and they married August 30, 1952. They were happily married for 62 years before Alex’ passing in 2015. They had four children: Heather Ann (Cliff Gold); Mary Elizabeth (Dave Ponting); Leslie Jean (James Swope); and Alexander Ferguson (Martha Rojo). They are also survived by 8 grandchildren: Lindsay, Caitlin, Lily, Victoria, Carolyn, Alexander, Spence and Emily.
Donna had a lifelong love of learning and returned to college at age 48. She graduated as salutatorian from George Mason University in Art History. She then became a docent for the National Gallery of Art and traveled the world following her love of art. She was an avid tennis player, golfer and skier.
Services will be held on Thursday January 10 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4250 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, Va. at 1:00 pm.
