THEODORE, Chip (Charles W. Jr.) age 66, of Alexandria, beloved husband of Maia Dalton-Theodore, father of Terry Theodore and Kimberly Rucker, grandfather of Zachary, Garett and Matthew Theodore and of Jack, Anthony and Blake Rucker. Preceded in death by his father, Charles William Theodore, Sr. and his Mother Mary Katherine Natoli. He is survived by brothers Timothy and Terrell Theodore.
A native Arlingtonian, Mr. Theodore served in Iceland and had two tours in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969 with the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74. He was also TDY’d for missions through the Marine Corps as a sniper. Upon his return the Washington area, he joined the Arlington County Fire Department and will be remembered for his service as a Captain and Station Commander. He also served as the Director of Emergency Medical Services for Arlington County. After retiring from the Fire Department in 1987, he worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor with Arlington Hospital ATU, and INOVA CATS. Most recently, he was employed as the Behavioral Health Coordinator with Fairfax County Fire & Rescue. Chip was a leader in developing peer support for the Traumatic Stress Management of Emergency Responders.
A Visitation will be held on Monday January 21, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Church, 1500 North Glebe Rd., Arlington, VA, on January 22, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Florida Men’s Workshop Scholarship fund, 1517 Spanish Ave., Leesburg, FL 34748.
