Charles W. Schudt, 102, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at his residence.
Charles was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1917 to the late Charles and Rose Schudt.
As dictated by his Army assignments, he was a resident of Northern Virginia, off and on, since 1952 and continuously since 1970.
Charles’ wife of 48 years, Erma F. Schudt, preceded him in death in 1993.
He graduated the Army War College with the class of 1961. His significant Army assignments were finance officer, 70th Infantry Division from 1943-1946; the director of the New York Region, Army Audit Agency from 1955-1957; comptroller of the Eighth US Army Division, in Korea from 1966-1967; and budget officer for the Modern Volunteer Army at the Pentagon from 1970-1971. Some of his military decorations include Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, and Army Commendation Medals. After retiring from the Army, Charles worked for 14 years with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, retiring in 1987.
Some of his achievements are a Bachelor Degree of Business Administration from St. John’s University, Brooklyn, New York, in 1938 and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University in 1952. He was a life member of the Military Officers Association of America and the National Association for Uniformed Services.
Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
