Brett Joseph Edwards, 28, of Arlington, VA (formerly of Council Bluffs, IA), passed away
Saturday, March 8. He was born in Papillion, NE on May 17, 1985 to William (Bill) and
Earline Edwards both of Council Bluffs. Brett graduated from Abraham Lincoln High
School in 2004. In 2008, he graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of
Science in Engineering. He worked at the Federal Patent Office in Arlington, VA. Brett
lived his life to the fullest with a love for children, music and cars and loved spending
time with his family in Rocky Mountain National Park each year. His greatest joys were
spoiling his nieces and nephews, spending time with his siblings, family and many
friends. He was well known and loved for his kindness, sense of humor and welcoming
Brett is survived by his parents (Bill and Earline), his brothers, Erik (Annabel) Edwards
of Gahanna, OH and Ryan (Leah) Edwards of Spokane, WA, his sister Jena Edwards
of Iowa City, IA, his nieces and nephews, Samantha and Charlotte Edwards (Ryan) and
Corey and Margaret (Meg) Edwards (Erik), in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins
and friends who will miss him deeply.
In honor of his wonderful ability to make his nieces and nephew laugh, the family asks
that memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation so that Brett can continue to
make children happy.
There will a celebration of his life at 2 PM on March 22 at First Christian Church in
Council Bluffs, IA.
