On Sunday, April 23, 2017, Audine Williams passed away peacefully at Grand Oaks Assisted Living in Washington, D.C. at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Thomas Williams, Jr. and her son, Austin the III. She is survived by her children Lisa, and Mark, granddaughters Maddie and Charlotte, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Workman and son-in-law Howard Negron.
She was born in Breckenridge, Texas and attended Texas Christian University. She worked as an Assistant to Texas Governor John Connolly, and moved to Washington to continue to work with him at the Pentagon when he was appointed Secretary of the Navy. She later managed the office for her husband’s medical practice.
Dene was a devout Catholic, loved to play bridge, tennis and golf, as well as travel, and drink Chardonnay. She was an involved volunteer fundraiser for Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington, the American Heart Association and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Friday, April 28 from 6-8 p.m. at Murphy’s Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203 and a memorial mass on Saturday, April 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Grand Oaks Assisted Living, 5901 MacArthur Boulevard, NW, Washington, D.C. 20016.
