Ann Castle Boswell

Ann Castle (Mrs. Jackson C.) Boswell, 84, a long-time resident of Arlington, died October 2. Mrs. Boswell was formerly acting Clerk of Arlington County and also served for many years as a senior administrator of the Izaak Walton League of America. After retirement, she was an active volunteer for Potomac Overlook Park, Arlington Meals on Wheels, and the Arlington Walking Club.

A direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin and two other signers of the Declaration of Independence, Mrs. Boswell was born in West Chester, PA, and christened Ann Otway Byrd Castle. She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, where she attended the Ursuline Academy and graduated from The Tatnall School. Mrs. Boswell attended Mount Holyoke College, Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, and the University of Virginia before graduating with a degree in art history from George Mason University. Mrs. Boswell was a life member of the Mayflower Society and Friends of Benjamin Franklin, and she was also a supporter of the Virginia Wildflower Society. An avid gardener, an habitual reader of the Washington Post, a connoisseur of bourbon and good food, and a life-long movie buff, she collected shoes, books, and art.

Mrs. Boswell’s first marriage to Sven Eric Molin ended in divorce. She is survived by her second husband of 48 years, Jackson Campbell Boswell, and three sons from her first marriage: Karl Teo (Ted) Molin II of Glen Ridge, NJ; Peter Castle Molin of New Brunswick, NJ; John Bickford Molin of San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren; and a brother, former Gov. Michael N. Castle of Delaware. Her youngest son, Franklin Bache Molin, predeceased her.

Private memorial services will be held in Arlington and Wilmington. Burial will be in Delaware at a date to be determined.
