Obituary Mr. Aldwin Joseph Ochoa, affectionately known as Al, age 67 took his final breath and ran into the arms of the Lord and Savior on Tuesday January 20th, 2015. He was born November 1, 1947 in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago to Rupert Ochoa and Stella Paul. He enjoyed living in a community with his mother, grandmother and uncles. Aldwin spent his early years in Trinidad being educated at Progressive high school, since renamed Progressive Educational Institute. He migrated to the Bronx, NY, in his early teens and continued his education at Evander Child’s high school. He was a starting member of Evander Child’s soccer team, which completed the 1965 season undefeated and won the New York City championship. Aldwin was known for his style, and he set out to make a fashion statement. At the completion of high school, in 1966, he started his working career with Lords Men’s Wear clothing store selling suits. Uncle Sam called one year later, and he like many young men was drafted into the military. Aldwin served the military of his adopted country for 28 years and retired as a Sergeant Major in the United States Army. Aldwin leaves to cherish: his mother Stella Paul, daughters Frances Waller and Andrea Gorum, Brother Rey Ochoa, Sister Ingrid Shillingford, son-in-laws Darryl Waller, Shaun Gorum, Sister-in-law Teri Ochoa, Grand-daughters Aryah Waller, Zoria Waller, Sierra Gorum, and former wife Mona Ochoa. Aldwin was proceeded in death, by his farther Rupert Ochoa and brother, Ian Ochoa.
