William attended Eastern High School where he enjoyed playing baseball and boxing. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy. Then he used his G.I. bill to attend UDC-The University of the District of Columbia, while working as an EMT, fireman and eventually fire inspector. As an inspector he served on six presidential details and one detail for Pope John Paul. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On February 2, 1969 William’s life was forever changed. This is the date of when he met the love of his life, Brenda Stewart. Brenda required a lot of convincing and courting to agree to marry a man with 6 children. In June of 1981, they lost their 1st son together, John Paul, due to stillbirth. In July of 1982, they had their only child together, Kia Lajuan Elizabeth. Thus creating the last member of their very own Brady Bunch. On October 2, 2022 they celebrated 43 years of marriage. His dementia didn't stop him from telling his wife, "I love you" one last time.
William loved all of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed swimming, walking (especially with our dog, Sheba), reading, eating sweets, playing spades, cooking BBQ, playing practical jokes, vacuuming, and sitting on the porch napping or people watching.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Stewart and his sister, Barbara Stewart.
