Mr. William G. Gallagher passed away at the age of 92 on February 6, 2023 in Dallas, TX. He was born in Youngstown, OH on December 30, 1930 to Frank and Irene Gallagher. Mr. Gallagher was the youngest of 7 children.
He stole one of his older brother’s birth certificate when he turned 15 in order to enlist in the United States Army towards the end of World War II. After six weeks of being gone, his father came and removed him from service. He re-enlisted in the United States Air Force upon his 17th birthday. He was stationed all over the world (Guam [Andersen AFB], Ramstein AFB Germany, Dyess AFB, Omaha NB [Strategic Air Command], Minot AFB to name a few) During one of his many stations (Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX) he meet my grandmother and married her (married 72 1/2 years). They would travel the world together along with my Uncle (Dea Larry) and my mother (Linda Crews).
My grandfather would see war all over again in Korea. Upon his return he got station at several more bases. My grandfather’s last station was Dyess AFB. While stationed here, he got orders to report for reassignment to Vietnam. It was at this point he decided he had, had enough. So he retired from the Air Force. He then went to work for the FAA (Mecham Field), retired. Then went to work for OSHA, then retired from there. After that he just would take us grandkids for trips to Vegas, New Orleans, Houston, and Oahu, Hawaii. He and my grandmother would also go and visit Naples Italy, Madrid Spain and Moscow Russia. As you can see he lived a great life.
He is survived by his wife Elouise Gallagher, daughter Linda Gallagher-Crews and husband Barry Crews, Grandson Michael Brent Crews and Wife Jaime Crews, Grandson Bryan Douglas Crews, Grandson Brad Alan Crews and Wife Stephanie Crews. Grandson Michael Gallagher, Granddaughter Christy Gallagher-Stanley and husband Jason Stanley.
