William leaves behind his finance’, Mary Kinnard, his mother Carol Matyka Armitage Gage and husband Steve, his brother Rob and wife Keenah, sister Jodi Manzone and husband Steve, nieces Elizabeth and Kai, nephews Tyler and Jhett and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Susan (Smith) Armitage and his father William George Armitage.
William graduated from Eastern High School in Bristol and then UCONN with a major in History, which he loved. His career was in the Insurance Industry, where he worked as a Marketing Analyst.
William, with his ready smile and youthful outlook, still enjoyed his love of the game of Dungeons and Dragons. Every Friday evening would find him on his computer playing and strategizing the game. Miles would not keep him from his passion and friends.
Before his move to Texas several years ago, William was extremely involved with the Hamden Special Olympics. He was a Partner, fund raiser, volunteer and coach in many sports including: Bowling, Tennis and Floor Hockey. He helped, encouraged, taught and hugged many special athletes who he called "his kids". He deeply loved them all and they loved him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, from 9:30am-11:30am. Funeral Service will start at 11:30am in Hamden Memorial. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamden Special Olympics.
