Wen Sheng Chan

Memorial Service: Dr. Chan’s Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive in Arlington.

Dr. Chan was a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UT-Arlington. He joined the faculty in 1988 and rose to the rank of full professor in 1994. His research led to over 200 publications in the area of composite materials. Among his many honors, he received an Outstanding Research Award and an Excellence in Engineering Teaching Award. He loved his family, his students, and his home country of Taiwan. Dr. Chan worked tirelessly to provide a great life for his family. He was compassionate and generous and opened his home to all students, especially those who could not afford to make it home for the holidays. Dr. Chan was heavily involved in the Taiwanese community and was dedicated to supporting a democratic and free Taiwan. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his sister Yen-Sue and brother Wen-Kwei.

Survivors: He is survived by his sister Yen-Yin, brother Wenyaw, wife Yaung-Hwa, son Winston, daughter Alice, and grand-daughter Alina.
