Victor Yanez Garcia, age 90 of Arlington, went to be with his heavenly Father on December 29, 2020. He was born on May 7, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas, the son of Victor D. Garcia and Maria Inez Yanez. Victor married Maria Celia Doporto and they celebrated 62 years of marriage together.
Victor grew up in Big Spring and spent many years between there and his grandfather’s ranch where he tended livestock, horses and trapping. He was drafted into the Army 82nd Airborne Division. Victor excelled in many jobs including plumbing, construction, and as a dietician. Victor enjoyed playing baseball as a kid and later coached girls’ softball. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, gambling, collecting hats, guns, and knives, but most of all spending time with his beloved family. Victor was a cowboy and horse lover at heart and he never lost that love even after moving to the city.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maria, brothers Inez, Vidal, Vicente, Vilosio, Dolores, Velen, and Vito, and his sister Christina.
Victor is survived by his children Gloria Garcia Meyer (Paul), Victor D. Garcia (Peggy Sue), RoseMarie Gomez (Bobby), Jose V. Garcia (DeAnna), Christine Garcia (Loy Rodriguez), Cynthia D. Ramos (Marcos), and Alicia G. Carbary (Rowell); 27 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; sisters Velia and Berlinda; and brothers Vadelio and Benjamin.
A Rosary to be recited beginning at 10:30am on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00am at the Church.
