Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a musician and played clarinet in the U.S. Naval Academy Band. After his discharge, he attended college on the G.I. Bill, completing his Masters in Music from Texas Tech University. He spent the rest of his life touching the lives of children through music education.
He was also devoted to his family, and his Lord. He was Associate Pastor at Calvary Chapel of Arlington, he served as a missionary in Ukraine for seven months ('94-'95) and volunteered 15 years at Tarrant County Parole Office as a substance abuse counselor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lynda Stevens and brother Johnny Warren. He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Patricia Warren; sister Debbie Hennig (Ray); daughter Tonda Sykes (Rick); sons Stephen Warren (Vanessa) and Troy Warren, Jr., (Cheryl); grandchildren Rachael, Lydia, Justin, Jason, Austin, Sean, Stephen, Katherine, Geoffrey, Andrew, Victoria, Elizabeth, Eric, Angela, Caleb, Hope, Joshua, Timothy and Joel; twelve great-grandchildren; and countless other loving family members, friends and students past and present who will miss his warmth and wisdom.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 6/4, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N Davis Dr., Arlington, TX 76012. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, 6/5, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel of Arlington, 200 W Park Row, Arlington, TX 76010 with Senior Pastor Jeff Andis and Pastor Kerry McDaniel (Retired) officiating.
