Thomas “Tom” Joseph Gobroski, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed from this life on April 11, 2024, in Houston, surround by the love of his family. Tom bravely fought cancer for several years while staying positive until the very end.
Tom was born in Galveston, Texas at St. Mary's Hospital to parents Joseph L and Betty J Gobroski on February 5, 1951. He graduated from Ball High School in Galveston in 1969, and the University of Texas at Austin in 1973. Tom's 25-year career in the medical supply field was followed by becoming a realtor, working in the mortgage and loan industry, and returning to realty for six years prior to retirement.
Tom not only loved golf, but all sports. Tom, a numbers guy, had an encyclopedic memory for practically all past games and notable plays. Tom actively offered support and encouragement for breast cancer patients, especially male, and donated his time to the mentoring program with the After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD) organization.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Jo Hudson.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cheryl Gobroski; son, T. J. Gobroski; daughter, Mikki B. Skinner and husband, Michael; granddaughters, Mila, Madison, and Mikayla Skinner; sisters, Joan Megna and husband, Joe; Nancy Freudenberg and husband, Henry; brother, Rick Gobroski and wife, Roberta; stepdaughter, Ashley Grigsby, and stepson, Brandon Grigsby and wife, Melissa; and mother of his children and former wife, Brandie Falgout Michaelis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Christ Chapel Bible Church (Oak Room), 3701 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth, Texas.
