Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church, 715 E. Lamar Blvd., Arlington. Interment: 4 p.m. Tuesday in the San Saba City Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home.

Thomas, also known as "Tommy," "Coach Ed," or "Ched," had a passion for family, friends, work and life in general. He was best known for his passion for coaching. He coached in the Arlington school district for 35 years. His last 15 years were spent at Arlington High School coaching his favorite sport of girls softball. He will be remembered by his huge network of coaches throughout the entire state as well as the thousands of students whose lives he touched.

He was a friend to all who knew him, a mentor to the many who had the privilege of playing for him; a loving husband and a father to we select few who called him "Dad." Tommy left his mark on all of us. He will be remembered by all who loved him for his complete selflessness and his love of the game! He will be sincerely missed.

"And when my life was over and my gamut run, I'd thank God for my freedom, country, friends and son."

Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Carmela; children, Brett, Leah, Cambria, John, Nicholas and Victoria; grandchildren, Lindsey, Caden, Mackenzie and Beau.
