Jean grew up in the Pantego area. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1943. At that time, she was a member of Pantego Bible Church. Her grandfather, W. J. Fuller, started the church on his front porch in 1905. Jean trusted Jesus as her savior at the age of 12 while at Vacation Bible School at Pantego church. There she learned the love of memorizing scripture and continued this habit the rest of her life.
Jean’s fondest memories were of her growing up with her sister Mary, brother Buddy, and their 38 cousins! What great times they had. She loved going to church especially Sunday School, VBS and Summer Church Camp. She was very independent and loved riding the bus with her friend at age 9 to go to tumbling.
She met her husband Carl in February 1946 while both were working at Montgomery Ward. Carl was attending TCU after coming home from the Navy. They were married seven months later and were together the rest of their lives.
Jean was definitely a “Proverbs 31” woman. She did not have a lazy bone in her body. Taking care of her family was her first priority and she did it amazingly. She was meticulous with the family finances and would have probably become an accountant if she had gotten the opportunity.
She and Carl were active members of Bellevue Baptist Church in Hurst from 1958 to 1972. Jean taught Sunday School to 3rd graders for 12 years, and Carl was a Deacon. They moved to Runaway Bay, Tx in 1976 and were charter members of Runaway Bay Community Church. They worked tirelessly for years to help grow the new church. They loved living in Runaway Bay where they were always busy with church, fishing, RVing, golfing, square dancing, and taking care of grandchildren!
Jean would tell you she had a wonderful life, and if she could, she would tell you her life is even more wonderful now!
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Calvary Chapel of Arlington, 200 W. Park Row Dr, Arlington, Tx. 76010.
