Thaddeus Walter Smith Sr.

Thaddeus Walter Smith, Sr., age 80 of Arlington, passed away September 6, 2019. He was born on April 10, 1939 in Sanatorium, Mississippi, the son of Lafayette Smith and Ruby Myers Smith. Thaddeus married Sherwyn Walker on September 26, 1965 and they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Thaddeus was drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a county deputy sheriff for St. Louis, MO for many years. Thaddeus loved baseball and it was always his dream career since a young age. In his spare time, Thaddeus enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, painting, and cooking. His greatest time was that spent with family and friends, all of whom will miss his cooking, esp. his deer chili and peach cobbler.

Thaddeus is survived by his loving wife, Sherwyn; son Thaddeus Smith II and wife Brenda; daughters Rene Smith, Rochone McCalister, Rochelle Trout and husband LeVester, and Crystal Steele and husband Michael; nephew Michael Green and wife Karen; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11:30am on Tuesday, September 17 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home. Inurnment and military honors will take place at 2:15pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
