Shirley was born July 26, 1929, in Dallas to Albert and Martha DeCuir. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College (now UTA) where she met and later married Claude W. Shackelford Jr. Their marriage ended with Claude's sudden death in 1999.
As a devoted mother, she raised a son, Kyle, and a daughter, Tina. Shirley had a huge heart and openly shared it with family and friends, as well as any stray that was fortunate enough to cross her path. She enjoyed a wonderful sense of life and could see the humor in almost every situation, especially if the joke was on her.
Shirley retired from Armour Foods in 1990 and continued to enjoy the friendships she made while at Armour. She also enjoyed many friends from her longtime membership with Richland Hills Church of Christ.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Joe DeCuir; and husband, Claude Shackelford Jr.
Survivors: Son, Kyle Shackelford and wife, Ellen, of Arlington; daughter, Tina Lipman and husband, Mark, of Haslet; grandchildren, Keith Tucker and wife, Agnes, Lance Tucker, Jared Shackelford, Zach Shackelford, Rae Lipman; great-grandchild, Gwen Krynski; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends beyond number. Her huge heart and passion for helping others defined her and will be long remembered.
