Born in Washington D.C. in 1946 and raised in Dallas, TX, she moved to Colorado at the age of 19 where she met lifelong friends and raised her family. After 42 years in Colorado, she moved to Maine to be closer to her daughter, but winters are long and harsh so in 2017 she retired and moved home to Texas.
Sharon enjoyed a diverse career in accounting and, at the age of 51, proudly received her Associates of Arts degree and became a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP). She was always known as the “go-to” person, “When all else fails, go ask Sharon” was a common saying anywhere she went. Her passions included her family, reading, crafts, coloring, holidays, and Hallmark movies.
She is survived by her daughter Tammy Willey, son Jeff (Adam) Willey-Kern, stepsons Mike (Dee) Willey and David (Doreen) Willey, grandchildren Eliana, Sarah, Mark, Chloe and Mary, great-grandchildren Baylee, Paige and Hunter, and her sisters Linda (Kagy) Elwood and Selma Sue Simpkins. She was predeceased by her husband Marshall L. Willey and brothers Duward Sumner Jr. and Mike Kagy.
As most of her loved ones live out of state, a memorial service will not be held, however a memorial program to remember her by will be available. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
