Sharon Sue Hill Baker, age 67 of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2020 with her family at her side. She was born on January 31, 1953 in Arlington, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Mansfield. Sharon married Steven Baker and they celebrated 44 years of marriage together.
Sharon’s legacy includes her husband, Steve; daughter Sarah Stevenson and husband Jeff; grandchildren Susannah, Caroline, Liam, and Charlotte; and many loving friends and extended family members. Sharon was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Baker.
Sharon was a graduate of Mansfield High School, received her two-year degree in food management from Tarrant County Junior College, and received her associates degree in elementary education from LeTourneau University. She proudly served her country during the Vet Nam War in the US Army as a general’s aide at Fort Jackson and in Thailand, and was later stationed at Fort Hood with the 7th Air Cav.
Sharon was an accomplished photographer and she and her husband owned The Image Photography in Mansfield. She received many awards and recognition for her photography including recipient of the PPA Craftsman Photographic Degree, Lifetime Achievement Award from the PPA, and winner of the Fuji Masterpiece Award in print competition, along with 30 other merits. She was active and past presidents of the Metroplex Professional Photographers Association and Texas Professional Photographers Association. Sharon was also active in the Mansfield Kiwanis Club, where she served as past president and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. In more recent years, Sharon worked as an assistant manager for Callaway’s Nursery in Mansfield, where she earned the Texas Nursery and Landscape Certification.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, August 18 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home. Graveside services will be live streamed at 2:30pm on Wednesday, August 19 from the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
