Scott Gregory Farris, age 40 of Arlington, passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2019. He was born on August 7, 1979 in Garland, Texas, the son of Charles Farris and Karin Koestle Farris. Scott had found his true soulmate when he married Stephanie Hollingsworth and even though they only celebrated five short years together, they always felt like they had known each other their whole lives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Scott is survived by his son Zach Farris, daughter Emily Farris, step-daughter Bella Perez, mother-in-law Darlene Hollingsworth, step grandfather Peter Gorski, half-brother Peter Farris and wife Jean, their children Zach and Jennifer Farris, and their children John Matthew Farris and Nevaeh Farris. Scott was preceded in death by his father-in-law Gerald Hollingsworth, and grandmother Lisa Gorski.
Scott grew up with a love of traveling and aviation, having spent many trips to Germany and other countries with his family. Scott was a collector of many things and loved to work on many projects. He had a love for music and pursued a career as a DJ in his younger years. He was fascinated with storms and witnessed more than one F-5 tornado, which led him into storm tracking and obtaining his radio operator license. He was a recognized storm chaser and reported directly to the National Weather Service every time we had a weather alert.
Scott’s greatest time was the time he spent with his family. He loved to volunteer at Bella’s school, and before his son graduated he had spent the whole summer traveling with Zach’s band to compete in San Antonio. He made a lasting impression everywhere he went, and never made an enemy.
Family and friends will remember him as the one they could always call on to help, because he would drop everything without hesitation if you needed him. He had a heart of gold and was the most compassionate and sincere people you would ever meet. Scott was always there to help and never
expected recognition in return. He had a great sense of humor and a brilliant mind and was a master of many things. He had finally found a place that understood and appreciated his brilliant mind and quirkiness when he began working at Lone Star Aviation. This was truly his dream job and he had found his permanent spot there as their Lead Engineer. Scott was a Christian man and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Flowers or donations to Pleasant View Baptist Church will be appreciated.
