Ross Howard Porter

Ross Howard Porter, age 84 of Powderly TX passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021. He was born on September 1, 1936 in Chattanooga, Oklahoma, the son of Mae and Harry Porter. Ross married Sammie Blackshear on March 27, 1956. They were married for 64 years.

Ross proudly served and was Honorably discharged from the United States Army. Family and friends will remember him as a loving father and friend. Ross loved his family and always said “I have a pasture full of grandkids”, he was a great grandfather, and a great-great grandfather. He enjoyed being a truck driver, camping, fishing, hunting, and being with family and friends. His greatest time was being on the lake with family running trout lines and having fish fry’s.

Ross is survived by his wife, Sammie; son Keith and wife Jeanne; son Brad and wife Sara; daughter Sharon and husband Joe; grandchildren; Corey, Crystal, Keith Ross, Tiffany, Aubrey, Camden, Kisha, Holly, Casey, A.J., Cheryl, Many great grandchildren and many great- great grandchildren. Siblings; Martha Brown, Jody Barber and husband Joe, Anita Hems, Minnie Porter; many nieces and nephews.

Ross was preceded in death by his mother and father Mae and Harry Porter. Brothers and sisters: Ruth Reeves and husband Melton, Dean Bayliffe and husband Ike, Robert Porter and wife Billie, Jack Porter, Richard Porter, Edger Brown, Ray Hems, Zenobia (Tooter) Parsons and husband Neal; and granddaughter in-law Darla Porter.
