Richard James Mullins passed away peacefully on July 28, 2017. Visitation for Richard will be held on August 3, 2017 at Moore and Sons Funeral Home Bowen Road from 10:00 a.m. with his Funeral Service following immediately after at 11:00 a.m. The family has invited those who wish to join us for a small meal after the funeral service before we proceed to Jims place of rest.
Jim was born March 4, 1930 in Teague, Texas to Richard Lyle Mullins and Mary Frances Cantrell. He has two brothers, William Leslie Mullins and Robert Eugene Mullins. After graduating from high school, Jim served two years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Following his service he attended Tyler Jr. College where he met his bride and love of his life of 67 years, Martha Ann Brown. They were married June 10, 1950. Jim was a materials estimator for residential and commercial construction companies such as David Weekly and Brown & Root. He had a sideline business in Houston, Texas in the 1980’s installing ceiling fans in residential homes at a time when people were looking for ways to conserve energy.
He was the most handsome perfect gentlemen, an avid reader of Louis L'Amour western novels, loved his Elvis tribute night outs, was a friend to all he met, adored his grandkids (they adored him and will miss those salon hair brushings) and was an impeccable role model to his kids and a faithful husband to his wife and loved Christ.
Jim is preceded in death by his Father and Mother Richard Lyle Mullins and Mary Frances Cantrell, his lovely wife Martha Ann Brown, and his Son-in-Law Steve Watson.
Jim is survived by his one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Watson, one son, John Leslie Mullins and his wife Doris, five grandchildren, William Oscar Watson and wife Jamie, Jack Andrew Watson and wife Rachel, Stephanie Elizabeth Watson, Kenzie Rose Mullins, and Kiara Ann Mullins and by two great-grandchildren, Mazie and Tavin.
