Randy was born in Dallas, TX on August 21, 1954.
He was the son of Earnest Leonard and Emma Lee McClellan.
Growing up in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Randy attended Jefferson Davis Elementary, T.W. Brown Middle School and Justin F. Kimball High School. He enjoyed sports, playing football and baseball. Randy and his family attended Wynnewood Baptist Church, where Randy accepted Jesus Christ into his heart and began his walk in Faith.
In 1973, after graduating from Justin F. Kimball High School, Randy attended University of Texas @ Arlington and worked in the warehouse at Gates Rubber Company. Randy quickly figured out that working that kind of job was way too hard and thought he would try an office career. He began working at Trinity Universal Insurance Company and continued for 17 years, and his final role with the company was Corporate Treasurer. Randy settled into a career in software sales in 1992. In 2021 he retired from FIS Global with over 29 years with the company (and the preceding companies). As a young man, Randy joined the Mike H. Thomas Masonic Lodge, creating a special shared bond for him and his father, Leonard.
Randy met Keri Dublin in 1989 while they both worked at Republic Financial Services Inc., and they married in 1992. Randy’s love for Keri was magical and infinite.
Arlington, TX became Randy’s new home, and over the years they attended Lamar Baptist Church, Fielder Church and are currently members at First Baptist Church Arlington.
While Randy and Keri’s kids were in school at Pantego Christian Academy (PCA), Randy became involved with the PCA Athletic Booster Club. This is where Randy’s servant leadership really flourished. He loved being a Booster and spent countless hours planning, organizing, fundraising and roasting hot dogs!
Randy and Keri had the opportunity to travel extensively, and he thoroughly enjoyed exploring and learning history, but you could also find him in the casino “running” a craps table. He was quite a movie buff, often quoting movie lines, and an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Randy was in his element being outdoors, fishing, hunting and golfing. In retirement he was able to spend more time fishing for crappies in Cedar Creek Lake. Randy loved to catch ‘em and cook ‘em and always had a tall tale about his fishing exploits.
Known as Big Daddy to his grandkids, family was everything to Randy. He loved family gatherings, especially 4th of July and Thanksgiving. He was famous for serving up his homemade vanilla ice cream and cooking his grandmother’s special cornbread dressing.
Randy was bigger than life. He had a “one liner” for every scenario, even if you had heard him say the same thing 1,000 times before, he was going to say it again. He thought he was hysterical, and his laugh made everyone else laugh right along.
Randy is preceded in death by his father Earnest Leonard and mother Emma Lee.
Randy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Keri, and his brother Earnest Ray and wife Tahlie. He leaves behind four children, son Daniel Lee, son Kenneth Jaye and his wife DahMu, daughter Callie Dianne and son Colin Eugene, and four grandchildren Earnest, Erick, Elliott and Emma, one nephew Shawn, one niece, Shannon, and cousins, Rhonda Mangold, Patricia Shy, Shirley Graham and Kathy Simmons.
