Phillip Ryan Hughes, age 20, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on Tuesday August 20, 2019 from complications of mental illness. Phillip was born December 1, 1998 in Conroe, Texas to Phillip and Leslie Hughes. He attended elementary and middle school in Big Pine Key, Florida and high school in Fort Worth, TX.
Phillip was most interested in science, nature and technology. He loved growing up in the Florida Keys and spent a lot of time exploring the natural lands and habitats there. As he grew up, he became an avid video gamer alongside his brothers. Phillip's love, humor and enthusiasm for life can be seen and felt in the words of his own Instagram Bio where he writes "People are awesome, Western Society is lit. The internet is infinite, and memes are funny." Phillip's family and friends will forever treasure memories of his kind heart, gentle soul and clever humor.
Phillip joins his grandmother, Ann Hughes, and his uncle, Ryan Scherbel, in the heavenly kingdom. He is survived by his parents, Phillip Hughes of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and Leslie Scherbel, of Fort Worth, Texas; his brothers, Avery Hughes of Fort Worth, and Luke Hughes of Cloudcroft. Additionally, Phillip is survived by grandparents, Charles and Mildred Scherbel of Bryan, Texas and Dan Hughes of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Phillip's family will receive friends and family at a visitation on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Moore Bowen Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. A memorial slideshow will be shared along with food and fellowship in celebration of Phillip's life.
A second family visitation with a slideshow memorial and food and fellowship will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the home of Phillip's grandparents in Ohio City, Colorado at 3:00 pm in the afternoon.
Internment of ashes will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. We hope for an additional opportunity for visitation in the Florida Keys over the Christmas holidays.
