It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on the evening of May 23, 2024. Paul Thomas died in Arlington, Texas at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Paul was born on January 18, 1948 in Saigon, Vietnam. He was the youngest of 3 siblings and was raised by his mom’s two best friends. In 1975, a friend of Paul hinted to him about a storefront in his neighborhood where there were three ladies. It was there that he met his now wife, Christine, and they married in 1978. In 1979, he escaped the unsettled Vietnamese government by boat to Thailand, hoping for a brighter future for his family, and eventually settled in the United States. At last, he was able to sponsor his family in 1985 to the United States. Paul lived in several states before making Texas his home.
As a young man he served in the South Vietnamese Air Force for 7 years and attended law school. Paul worked as an aeromechanic for Bell Textron for 26 years before retiring in 2014. He had several accomplishments at Bell including, restoration of XV-3 Convertiplane and most notably part of the first V-22 Osprey Integrated Test Team.
He loved learning and never stopped. Paul was always helping his grandkids with their homework. He enjoyed catching up with his friends, and trying his luck on the lottery and slot machines. He especially loved spending time with his four grandchildren and traveling with his family. Paul particularly loved going on cruises with his wife.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, father, and older sisters. He is survived by his wife, Christine; daughter Ann, spouse Huey, and children Patrick and Andrew; daughter Terry, spouse Luis, and children Nolan and Hailee.
