Paul Rodney Provost, was born on October 3, 1931 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Alfain Provost and Carmelite Gilbert. From an early age his life was shaped by integrity, and a commitment to excellence. After completing high school, Paul proudly served in the United States Navy. He went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1956, launching a career in Aerospace Engineering that spanned nearly four decades.
On June 9, 1956, Paul married the love of his life, Diane Higginbotham. Their union was a true partnership—rich in love, mutual respect, and enduring devotion. Together, they built a family that remains a lasting reflection of Paul’s strength and values.
Paul was a proud and loving father to Laurie Provost (deceased), Michael Provost, Lisa Provost McIntyre (David McIntyre), and Jeff Provost. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren—Buck Provost, Nikel Provost Soto (Alex Soto), and Alicia McIntyre Dicioccio (Christopher Dicioccio)—and his great-grandchildren, Madisyn Soto and Diana Dicioccio.
He was also a beloved brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, cherished by many in his extended family, including James (deceased) and Geneva Provost (deceased), Larry and Gayle Provost, Patrick and Joan Provost, George (deceased) and Bonnie Bigner, and James (deceased) and Patti Sheffield.
Paul’s life was marked by tireless work, steadfast perseverance, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He possessed a quiet strength, a sharp mind, and a heart full of compassion and wisdom. Those who knew him were better for it.
Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well lived—a life that touched countless others with love, encouragement, and guidance. His memory will forever be a source of inspiration to all who were privileged to know him.
