It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul McGinnis, 85, of Maypearl, on Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 4th at Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington with a reception following. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home.
Paul was born November 25, 1928 in Smithfield, Texas to Oscar Lee McGinnis and Julia Ann Garrett McGinnis. Paul was the owner and President of Pride of Texas Oil and Dalworth Oil Companies in Arlington and a lifelong rancher of Angus and Hereford cross cattle and Quarter Horses. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #438 of Arlington for more than 60 years, the Jockey Club of Ruidoso, and a Charter Member of Fielder Road Baptist Church. Paul loved spending time on his ranch, hunting, and watching the horse races in Ruidoso.
Mr. McGinnis was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Doris Elizabeth Windham McGinnis in 2007 and by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife Delight McGinnis, four daughters; Betty Farrow (Sid) of Weatherford, Carolyn Morris (Terry) of Arlington, Sharon Roye of Waco and Jackie McGinnis of Arlington. He was also survived by seven grandchildren; Elizabeth Allen, Troy Soules, Brett Farrow, Robert Morris, Virginia Keehan, Victoria Weir and Misty Hamilton and by ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Ken McGinnis of San Clemente, California.
In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to give to the charity of their choosing.
