Jud age 83, of Petersburg, Virginia was born May 3,1940 in Queens Village, New York to
Paul Judson and Theresa Catherine (Rotzler) Leach. He was preceded in death by: His parents and his brother, Robert Alan Leach, his sister-in-law, Kathryn Ann Leach, his sister, Beverly Ann Romano, his brother in law, Frank Romano, his brother, Richard Daniel Leach, his sister-in-law, Raye Williams Leach, his brother-in-law, Kenneth Gwin. His sister Diane Elizabeth Leach Gwin lives in Columbia, Maryland.
He is survived by his children; Christine Therese Lynch(Steve)of Williamsburg, VA, Sabrina Marie Young(Mark)of Dinwiddie, VA and Alicia Kay Kiel (Gary) of Moscow Mills, MO., grandchildren;
Lisa Marie Young, Nicholas Judson Tanner, Sean Gregory Gillihan, Randi Sierra Williams and Luke Anthony Williams, great grandchildren; Makayla Kay Tanner, Benjamin Frederick Tanner and Indigo Lorelai Williams
And many nieces and nephews.
Jud graduated from Laneri High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1958. He attended The University of Texas Arlington from 1958 to 1963 and received a Bachelor degree of Science in Biology. He joined the Army and continued his education at the University of North Carolina from 1967-1969 and received a MSPH in Biostatistics.
Jud served in the United States Army for 21 years and is a Vietnam veteran, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from Fort Lee in Petersburg, Virginia. Jud loved learning and teaching. After retiring he went back to school for his teaching degree. He attended Virginia State University from 1982-1989 and received his certificate of teaching and from 1986-1993 he then received a Master of Science in Earth Science and a Master of Education in Math.
Jud taught at Monacan High School, Central Texas College, Fort Lee, Saint Leo College and John Tyler Community College. He was a member of The Historic Petersburg Foundation, Inc. for 40 years and had a passion for his historic home, education, teaching, his restaurant (Leonardo’s) and bird watching.Jud was an incredible man, son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many.
He was loved deeply by many and will be greatly missed. We love you and miss you, Dad!
A memorial graveside will be held on Friday October 20th, 2023, at 12:00 pm, at Moore Memorial Park 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
