Former Palm Springs, California resident, Nina Louise Eckstrom, 84, of Arlington, TX went home to be with the Lord August 3, 2013. She was surrounded by her husband Glenn and loving family preceding her death. Nina and Glenn were married for 63 years and resided at Towne Village Independent living facility until her recent illness.
Nina was born on the family farm in Red Oak, IA on August 31, 1928 to John Veimar Adrian and Mary Anna Johnson. She attended Coburg High School, North Park College in Chicago, and San Diego State University. Nina was a faithful member of Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska before moving to Palm Spring, CA in 1963, where the family became members of the Community Church in Palm Springs, California. She served her church in many capacities, as well as serving as the President of Christian Women’s Club for a season.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lolita Udd, and her brother Lester Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn, her sister, Esther Mae Gotberg of Red Oak, IA; four children: Daniel Eckstrom of Palm Springs, CA, Linda Herod (Stanley) of Guatemala City, Guatemala, David Eckstrom (Patricia) of Grand Prairie, TX and Lisa Rodgers (Pat) of Coralville, IA, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
