It is with profound love and sadness that we gather to celebrate the life of Wendell Ray May who passed away at home on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 85. Wendell was born in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to parents Henry and Myrtle May. He is the youngest of 5 children and that last survivor of his generation.
Wendell met the love of his life on a blind date set up by his sister. It was love at first sight, and the following 60 years is the love story of a lifetime. Together the raised three children, traveled extensively and lived abroad before returning to Ft. Worth to be near their children and grandchildren.
Wendell is preceded in death by his wife Adlain, parents Henry and Myrtle May, siblings Wanda Hoy, Vera Chaney, Stonewall May and Helen Brogdon.
Wendell is survived by his children Buddy May and his wife Sue, Penny Albers and her husband Dwain and James May. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Cherie Bazel and her husband Daniel, Matthew Kennedy and his partner Janice, Emily Sanders and Jennifer Lambert. He was further blessed with nine great grandchildren: Michael, Tyler, Jayce, Wyatt, Blank, Semiah, Shilo, Destiny, Addalyn and Savannah.
Wendell and his wife Adlain will be inurned together on Thursday, December 12th at 1:00 sharp at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX. 75211. A memorial and remembrance ceremony will be held following the honors service from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Moore’s Funeral Home located at 1219 Davis Drive, Arlington, TX, 76012.
