Memorial service: Maudine's life will be celebrate at 2 p.m. Monday at Northwest Christian Church, 1001 N. Davis, Arlington. Officiant: Pastor David Hargrave. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home.
Maudine was born on May 7, 1934, in Ira, the daughter of Warren Edward King and Minnie Iva Wagstaff King. Maudine was raised in Center, later moving to Dallas, where she married the love of her life, George Wilson Nelms. Maudine worked at various medical offices as a secretary and office manager for more than 20 years. In addition to raising two daughters, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening, visiting with friends, and assisting with arts and crafts for her church women's auxiliary at Northwest Christian Church of Arlington.
Maudine was known by her family as the most caring and thoughtful person. She enjoyed taking care of her family, talking and laughing with them. She entertained with her vivacious and witty personality. She was a true and devoted mother, grandmother and friend, leaving a legacy of love and friendship. Maudine will be missed by her family and many friends who thank her for wonderful memories and unconditional love. May her memory be eternal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ola Mae Scoggins.
Survivors: Maudine is survived by her husband of 60 blissful years, George of Arlington; daughters, Debra Colburn of Fort Worth, Sandra McDaniel (Ken) of Arlington and Margaret Ann Griffin of Canton, N.C.; grandchildren, Angela Blane (Tony) of Dover, Del., Johnathan Landrum (Donna) of Corpus Christi; great-grandchildren, Ashley Terry, Caleb Blane, Jacob Blane, Seth Blane and Abigail Blane, all of Dover, Del., Tiara Landrum and Raelynn Landrum, both of Corpus Christi; brothers, Joe King (Frances) of Mesquite and Billy King (Pat) of Arlington; brother-in-law, Wesley Scoggins of Arlington; and a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and close friends.
