She was a mother, a grand mother, a great grand mother, an aunty, a sister, a relative, a friend and most especially a professional nurse. Ms. Maude Jeanette Miller was born June 30th, 1932 unto the union of Alexander Roy Miller and Bettie Winifred Dixon. Her mother died when she was three months and her father died when she was very young. She was raised by her grand mother Martan Urey and her sister Mrs. Hannah Johnson.
She attended and graduated high school from the Lutheran mission school. She enrolled in the Tubman Institute of Nursing Academy {TNIMA} in 1959. After graduation, she further her education at McGill university in Montreal, Canada in 1965 for her internship in Psychiatric nursing. She completed program successfully.
Upon returning to Liberia, Maude Jeanette Miller was employed at Catherine Mills Rehab hospital. She was known for her dedication and hard work in the field of nursing. She was employed while she was in Monrovia, Liberia by St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York. She later work at Bronx State Hospital and the Veteran Hospital in the Bronx, New York.
Ms. Maude Jeanette Miller had three sisters and one brother. Her sisters were Hannah Johnson, Maria Johnson and Martha Webster Moore. Her sisters and one brother predeceased her. Ms. Maude Jeanette Miller mourn her lost 5 children: Newton Othello George, Rev. Yhenpu Lucrece Boayue, Granville Bennoi Boayue who predeceased her, Maude Sangkai Boayue and Gloria Butler. She has one daughter in law Cecelia George, 14 grand children, 15 grand children, several nieces, nephews, friends and host of relatives. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
