Matthew's dream was to follow in his father's footsteps as a jockey. However, due to his final height of 5'7", he quickly realized that he would have to take other paths. He then became inspired to join the United States Army. Matthew found his passion as a soldier and became an Army Medic with the 82nd Airborne.
Matthew loved being a soldier and always spoke of it with such honor. He served his country from 1986 to 1994, but remained a soldier at heart to the end. When he transitioned into civilian life he found a second passion through healthcare.
He became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and served the medical community for 25+ years. His love for taking care of his patients and their families was always present in everything he did. His passion also filtered into the forefront of everything he did in his personal endeavors. Although he was born and raised in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada his home was in America and his heart belonged to Texas, where he will remain.
Survivors include, his mother: Patricia Gomez (Kaminski), his brother: Avelino Gomez, Jr. his sister: Jacqueline Gomez, his son: Matthew Daher (Gomez), and his daughter: Jayden Gomez
