Mary Lou Lawson

She met the love of her life, Royce Lawson while teaching ballroom dancing. In 1958, she married him and together they raised a beautiful family. She worked as an administrative assistant for many years and she retired from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1999 to help care for her grandchildren. She was an integral part of their lives by always being available to them, and being present at every game, celebration or event that they were a part of.

Mary had a vibrant personality and loved listening to all genres of music. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior and was a faithful member of Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas. For 19 years Mary was a part of the Lawson-Lummus Bible Study and hosted weekly group meetings in her home until 2020. In her 87 years of life, so many were blessed and privileged to have Mary in their life.

She is survived by her husband Royce Lawson, daughter Terri Howell and son-in-law, Patrick Howell. Grandsons, Alexander and Grant Coney, Terri's bonus daughters, Jessica Day and Bailey Howell. Brother and sister-in-law, Boyce and Barbara Lawson and their children, Aaron Lawson, Michelle Scott, Kristi Leal, and Brittany Lawson of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nieces, Beth Allmond of Arlington, and Kandace Williamson of Dallas and nephews, Buck Blackman, Jr. and Lee John Blackman, as well as many beloved friends from church and her Bible study group. She was loved around the world.

On March 12, 2022 Mary departed this earthly life and she will be greatly missed.

Terri would like to give special thanks to Linda Lummus, Dee Coletta, Terri Ritchie, and Candy Hotta for loving her parents and her so very well. The family would like to extend many words of gratitude for Mary’s caregivers Theresa Hawkins, Kirshanna Osby, and Melinda Rodriguez.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fielder Students’ Building located at 1607 West Pioneer Parkway in Arlington, Texas.

A private committal service will be held at a later date at Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
