Services for Mary Ellen Cash will be 3:00 pm, Monday, March 3, 2014 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. David Mosser will officiate. Burial will follow in Moore Memorial Gardens. Mary went to be with her Lord, Thursday, March 27.
Mary was born January 29, 1927 in Graham, Texas to Tom Holland and Celia Marie Smith Holland. In 1949, while attending school at Midwest University in Wichita Falls, she met and married Floyd Cash. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry she worked to put Floyd through school before becoming a full time homemaker.
Mary and Floyd enjoyed 54 years together and raised two children (son Lee and daughter Sue Ellen). Floyd was one of the first Electrical Engineering professors at what became the University of Texas at Arlington, eventually retiring as a the Associate Dean of Engineering. Mary was always active in the Women’s Auxiliary and made many good friends through the University and through her long time membership at First United Methodist Church.
After Floyd’s death in 2004, Mary moved to Arlington Town Village where she was able to continue many of her lifelong friendships while making new friends who will miss her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her two brothers, Douglas William Holland and Jack Thomas Holland.
Survivors include one son, Lee Cash Jr. of Denton and one daughter, Sue Ellen Gloyna of Salado, as well as two grandchildren, Scott and Tara who brought countless hours of enjoyment to her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the UTA Engineering “Floyd Cash Endowed Scholarship”, 416 Yates, Suite 634, Box 19019, Arlington, TX 76019.
