Marvin William Kirby, also known as “Bill” or “Willie,” passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 after a long battle with a stroke. He was born on July 31, 1940 in Grand Prairie, Texas to William and Cora Kirby.
After moving to Arlington, Texas, Marvin graduated from Arlington High School in 1960. He then attended Arlington State College. Marvin retired from Trinity Industries of Fort Worth Texas and was a member of the Trinity Valley Railroad Club. He was also a long time member of Central Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas and a resident of The Pavilion at Creekwood in Mansfield. Marvin had a passion for trains and locomotive history and a love for cats. Despite his handicap, he had many other hobbies and many friends with whom he traveled throughout the country in his lifetime.
Marvin is survived by his sisters, Doris Benoit and Billie Russell, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is predeceased in death by his wife, Helen, who entered in to rest in March 2014.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Marvin touch are invited to attend the services at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 1:00-3:00pm. Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Monday, November 2nd at Moore Funeral Home with burial to immediately follow in Moore Memorial Gardens.
