Mable Montgomery Starkey was born on August 28, 1930 in Prattville, Alabama. One of 12 children born to the late Howard Montgomery Sr. and Annie Rushing Montgomery. Nine of her siblings preceded her in life: Ethel Hall, Johnny Marel, William, Howard Jr. (Dorothy), Malcom (Maeomi) Theodore, Beatrice white and Lola Johnson (Walter) and grandchild, Ebony Love Hill.
She was educated at Autauga County Training School in Prattville, Alabama. Mable confessed Jesus Christ at an early age at Mt. Ramah Primitive Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Gardner to her departure she had become a member of the Greater Community Missionary Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Kennedy Jones.
Mable departed this life on May 11, 2015 leaving to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, David Starkey Jr. five children, Annie M. Starkey-Burns, Annette L. Starkey Hill, Cynthia Starkey Allen (Robert), Shawn Starkey (Michelle) and Howard Starkey all of whom reside in Texas. Sisters: Betty Davis (Harrison) and Delores Albright (John) of Prattville, Alabama. Sisters-in-law: Dorothy Green, Carolyn Moss, Ethel Bell Sampson. Brother-in-law: Edward Starkey. Also to cherish her every lasting memory are 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
