Lois Joan Widner, 92, left this earthly home on April 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on January 13, 1933, in Maquoketa, Iowa to Florence and Francis Bowman. Lois was raised in Maquoketa where she attended and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1950. After high school she met the love of her life Maxon V. Widner Jr. and they were married in 1954, the couple had four children and 70 beautiful years of marriage before Maxon’s passing in 2024.
Lois was a registered nurse and a housewife. She spent many years working at various hospitals, nursing homes, and even being a school nurse until she retired. In her spare time and after retirement she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting many items for friends and family. She liked to play the organ; along with traveling with Maxon and dancing.
Lois’s friends and family will always remember her as a loving mom and grandma; she was always there for anyone who needed her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maxon V. Widner Jr.; brothers, Hugh Bowman and Donald (Rudy) Bowman; parents, Francis and Florence Bowman.
Left to cherish Lois’s memory, her children, Merry K. Doty, Maxon V. Widner III, Donna E. Thomas, Thomas L. Widner; grandchildren, Maxon V. Widner IV, Elise A. Bowen, and Alexander F. Widner; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Lois will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A committal service will occur Monday, April 14, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 S Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
