Our Beloved mother, Loida Sosa, 91, peacefully passed away on March 17, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Raymondville, Texas, on June 4, 1933, and lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible. Loida was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She instilled in her children a strong sense of faith and values, teaching them the importance of kindness, compassion, and living a life that honors God.
Loida was a hardworking single mother who pursued a nursing degree while raising six children and became an LVN nurse. Her career spanned over 40 years across Texas and California, where she was known for her unwavering work ethic, compassionate heart, and dedication to patient care.
Loida is survived by daughters Liz Woodley and Maria Sosa of Arlington, Texas, sons Pete Sosa of Roll, Arizona, Larry Sosa of Fort Worth, Texas, and Daniel H. Sosa of Aberdeen, South Dakota. She also leaves behind two daughters-in-law, Adelina Sosa, and Kristi Sosa; one son-in-law, Edward Arrellano; two sisters, Lea Glesing and Esther Davidian; two brothers, Josue and Abel Contreras; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Contreras and Joy Contreras; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Daniel Sosa (firstborn) and Robert Sosa; her parents, Abel and Ana Maria Contreras; two sisters, Ruth Balch and Juanita Davis; and two brothers, Gama and Asael Contreras. Loida was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who deeply valued her relationships.
While we mourn her passing, we find comfort in the knowledge that she is now resting in the arms of her Savior, free from pain and suffering, and rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty. May her legacy and Christian values live and bless all who knew and loved her as a “Prayer Warrior” until her final day.

A visitation for Loida will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX. A committal service will take place Friday, April 11, 2025, at Moore Memoria Gardens,1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
