He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Dallas. Lee was born August 1, 1926 to Paul and Mary Grace Deatherage Taylor in Dallas. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1943 and enrolled in the ROTC program at North Texas Agricultural College, Arlington. In 1946 he enlisted in the US Army, serving in Texas, California, Idaho, Alaska, Virginia, Korea, Philippines, Japan, and Greenland. He married Patricia Rejine Hatch October 1, 1949 at the Presidio, San Francisco, CA. After more than 21 years of military service, he retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers as a Sergeant Major in 1966 and moved with his wife and two daughters back to Arlington to continue his college education at Arlington State College. He graduated from the newly named University of Texas at Arlington with a BS degree in Industrial Engineering in 1968 and joined Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society in 1969. He went on to complete a second career with the various named companies of LTV. After retiring in 1987, he enjoyed a life filled with reading, continuous learning, gardening, swimming, grandsons, and dachshunds. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, Dallas, a donor to the UTA Century Club for many years, and a generous supporter of numerous charities.
Lee was well loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. He was able to live independently in his own home of over 50 years in Arlington until his death. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Carroll Lee Taylor Russell; and brother Carroll Cole Taylor. His loving survivors include his daughter and her husband, Katherine and Richard Tibbets; grandsons and their families, Linden Lee, Alexander Patrick and Graham Scott Tibbets; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
