Laurie Marie Flynn, age 66 of Mansfield, passed away on October 4, 2018. She was born on February 10, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of John Edward Cree and Margaret Odessa Harshaw. Laurie married Kevin Flynn on August 15, 1975 and they celebrated 43 years of marriage together.
Laurie proudly served with Kevin as a Navy wife, president of the NAS Willow Grove Navy Wives Club, and the NAS Willow Grove and NAS Dallas ombudsman. Laurie never met a stranger and welcomed anyone into her heart and home, expanding her family across the county. Laurie enjoyed quilting, cooking, and baking – especially cookies during the holidays. Her greatest hobby was giving to others and volunteering. Her volunteering activities included Arlington Charities , Easter Seals, the USO, Sam Houston High Alumni Association, and the Defenders of Freedom. Laurie cherished her family and friends dearly, and all who knew her will miss her generosity, great smile and sense of humor.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Kevin; children J.D. Flynn and wife Tina, Brian Flynn and wife Laura; grandchildren Meghan and Margaret Flynn, and Christina and Cory Harris; great-grandchildren Danielle McTearnen and Owen and Carson Harris; sisters Jo Ann Anderson and Jonny Henthorn; brother Bruce Cree; godson Tony Morrell and special daughter Monika Harris.
A celebration of Laurie’s life will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, Arlington Texas.
