LaNelle was born March 8, 1923, in Fouke, Ark., to Audrey Reynolds Quillin and Jess M. Quillin. She graduated from Texarkana Arkansas High School and attended North Texas State University before marrying William H. McLarty Jr. on July 17, 1943. They moved to Arlington after W.H. McLarty left the military and began his dental practice in Arlington.
LaNelle and W.H. had two children, Mike McLarty and Betsy McLarty Saunders. For a number of years while living in Arlington, LaNelle worked for the City of Arlington Convention Bureau and was a member of the Arlington Junior Civil League.
After her husband died in 1987, LaNelle rekindled a high school relationship with Conway "Connie" O. Cook Jr. and they were married in 1996. They lived together in Arlington until Connie died in 2012.
LaNelle loved to read, to travel with family and friends and to play bridge with her girlfriends. She was a wonderful cook. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
LaNelle was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Jess Quillin; her two sisters, Marie Martin and Doris Watson; her three brothers, Carl Quillin, Morris Quillin and Johnny Quillin; her first husband, William H. McLarty Jr.; and her second husband, Conway O. Cook Jr.
Survivors: Her son, M. Michael McLarty and his wife, Linda; her daughter, Betsy McLarty Saunders and her husband, Bill; two grandchildren, Brian Saunders, and his wife, Ashley, and Kelly Saunders Sheppard and her husband, Ryan; four great-grandchildren, William Gabriel Saunders, Lauren Grace Saunders, Audrey Lee Sheppard and Warner Ryan Sheppard; stepchildren, Tanker Cook and his wife, Erica, and Candace K. Cook; their children and grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
