Kathleen Jon Fravel was born in Prosser Washington on July 14, 1920 to Glen E. Fravel and Grace Phillips Fravel. She was raised in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Roosevelt High School (Portland) in 1938.
Kay met her future husband and love of her life W.C. “Dub” Ray when he was stationed at Portland Air Base following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941.
They were married in Charleston, S.C. on Jan. 22, 1944 and eventually returned to make Fort Worth, Texas their home. They were married for 66 wonderful years until Dub’s death in 2010.
She and Dub enjoyed extensive vacation travel to beautiful locations all over the world. Kay was an active and longtime member of the North Side Church of Christ. She served as president of the Lady Lions Club, member of N. Fort Worth Women’s Club and the River Oaks Historical Society.
Kay was patient, kind, strong, gentle, and beautiful inside and out. Although an accomplished accountant for many years, her most cherished role was being a mother and grandmother.
Survivors: Son Roger Ray and wife Marge, Son Randy Ray and wife Victoria, Daughter Robin Gamez and husband Gilbert. Grandchildren Lance Ray, Derek Ray, Elise Richardson, Gilbert Gamez III, Brent Chism, Jeremy Chism, Kate Harsha, Shauna Miller, Max Miller, Faith Miller and precious great grandchildren.
